FIREPLACES

Nothing beats the warmth and elegance of an open fireplace. There is something about that amber glow and flickering flame that is mesmerizing and relaxing. Although beautiful, traditional fireplaces can be messy and difficult to manage. Today's gas or combustion heaters can recreate that feeling in a cleaner more efficient way, which is why they are becoming very popular.

Choosing the right heater for your room can be a difficult task. What type? What style? What size? I recommend that you do your homework and shop around before making a decision. There is plenty of information and misinformation out there.  But selecting your heater is only part of the job. You will need to have it professionally installed and boxed in with a chimney breast, which will hide the ducting, plumbing and wiring. This is where I can help you.

As I do not sell heaters, you must first purchase your heater from your chosen supplier. There are many brands and many suppliers. See the bottom of this page for the brands that I recommend. After the unit is delivered to your home I will take over and organise the entire installation, co-ordinate the various tradesmen and have it boxed in ready for you to paint (as shown in these photos).

It is essential that your heater is installed by licensed professionals to ensure that the correct materials are used, appropriate clearances are adhered to and all regulatory requirements are met. I use a hand-picked team of qualified plumbers, electricians and cabinet makes for all of my work. I myself have been a qualified plasterer for over 25 years so you can rest assured the job will be carried out correctly and professionally.

A chimney breast really is the bare minimum you will need when installing a new heater. Depending on your budget and decor you can greatly enhance the look of your installation to make it a feature of the room. See the Feature Walls and Entertainment pages for more information and ideas.
